GBBC is open to all Brass and Percussion students (Grade 6 through 12) with band experience.

  • Before March 7 with the Early Registration Discount rate: $475

WELCOME TO THE 21ST EDITION OF GRAMERCY BRASS BAND CAMP!!

 

The 20th Anniversary of Gramercy Brass Band Camp was a banner year, and we’re enthusiastically planning a fantastic new week of GBBC as we move into our 3rd decade.

 

This is the most current information about Gramercy Brass Band Camp 2025 and registration instructions. You can download this information and share it with other interested students and parents!  If you have additional questions, please reach us via email at GBBC@gramercybrass.org.

  • Camp Dates: Monday, July 28 – Saturday, August 2, 2025
    (Note: There will be no activities on Sunday, August 3.)

  • Early Registration Deadline: Friday, March 7, 2025

  • Scholarship Application Deadline: Monday, July 14, 2025

 

Registration Information

Registration for GBBC 2025 is now open!

 

Tuition Schedule

  • Early Registration Discount rate (up to March 7, 2025): $475

  • Full Tuition: $800 (March 8, 2025, and following)

Once you have completed the online registration form, you will receive an invoice via email which will include methods of payment and a payment plan option.  

 

Tuition Assistance (Scholarships):

Scholarship applications will be available after the early registration period ends.  

To apply, complete the Scholarship Form.  Requests must be submitted no later than July 14, 2025. After your tuition has been determined, you will receive an invoice via email indicating your scholarship amount.  The invoice will also include methods of payment and a payment plan option.

Who Should Attend Gramercy Brass Band Camp?

GBBC is open to all Brass and Percussion students (Grade 6 through 12) with band experience.

Instruments:

  • Cornet, Flugel Horn, Trumpet

  • Eb Tenor Horn, French Horn

  • Tenor or Bass Trombone

  • Baritone/Euphonium

  • Tuba

  • Orchestral/Band Percussion

 

Note: GBBC focuses on percussion section reading and is not suited for drum set students who do not read music and are seeking a jazz or rock style experience.

 

Ensembles Offered 

Depending on enrolment, GBBC will offer three brass band levels and one percussion ensemble.

 

  • JUNIOR Level: usually Grade 6 – 8

  • SENIOR Level: usually Grade 9-12

  • PREMIER BRASS BAND (PBB): Advanced ensemble available by audition only

  • PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE: Percussion students will participate in the Percussion Ensemble and a brass band.  Brass band placement will be determined on the first day by faculty.

 

Band Placement

  • Students will be placed in a band according to age, grade, and the details provided about the student's experience in the registration form. Ensemble chair seating will be determined by their Director.

  • Premier Brass Band: The PBB offers a rigorous, fast-paced performance challenge.  Placement is by audition. For audition details, please email us at GBBC@gramercybrass.org with “Premier BB” in the subject line.

 

Staff Assistants (College Students)

We welcome college students to apply as Staff Assistants (formerly known as Interns). These are unpaid positions offering:

  • Performance and teaching experience

  • Opportunities to work with young students under the supervision of a full faculty member. 

Staff Assistants should also be ready to support the day-to-day needs of the program beyond the music making aspect.

Policies & Logistics

Cancellation Policy:

  • $50 is non-refundable as an application fee.

  • 50% of payment refundable until Monday, July 7, 2025.

  • No refunds starting Monday, July 7, 2025.


Food Service:

  • Students should bring their own lunch.

  • Light snacks and water will be available throughout the day. (Please bring refillable water bottles to reduce plastic waste.)

  • Friday’s lunch will feature a pizza party. Details to follow.

 

Parking:

  • Drop-off: In front of the Cali School of Music Building on College Avenue.

  • Parking: Use the Red Hawk Parking Deck ($12/day).
    (Limited street parking may be available outside the campus.) For parking inquiries, email parking@montclair.edu or call 973-655-7580.

 

Daily Schedule:

  • GBBC operates from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Early student drop off can be arranged in advance by reaching us with an email at GBBC@gramercybrass.org.

  • A sample Daily Schedule will be posted on our website. 

  • Afternoon sessions aim to feature guest artists, masterclasses, or faculty presentations. For updates, visit our website.

  • Date: Saturday, August 2, 2025

Monday through Friday (7/28 through 8/2)

  • 9:30am Arrival Warm-Ups lead by Gramercy Brass Orchestra Principals

  • 10:00 - 10:40am Rehearsal Session 

  • 10:40 - 11:00am Break Individual Practice / Snacks / Relax

  • 11:00 - 11:40am Rehearsal Session II

  • 12:00 - 12:50pm Lunch Break, Organized Outdoor Activities,

  • One on One Lesson Sessions if desired by appointment with
    Faculty Coordinator

  • 1:00 - 2:15pm Clinic/Performance Session with Guest Artist or
    faculty Presentation / Percussion Break Out Session

  • 2:15pm Short Break / Free Time / Lessons / Planned Activities

  • 3:00pm Rehearsal Session III (or Sectionals)

  • 4:00pm Close of Day​
